I am a Sperm Whale
“Click click click…” I said repeatedly. “Click click click…” I’m a Sperm Whale, also known as
a cachalot. My scientific name is Physeter Macrocephalus. My favourite food is Colossal Squid,
though they’re pretty hard to kill. It’s dinner time! Time to eat! When it’s time to eat, I dive down
3,900 feet, or 1188.72 metres, to catch food. It’s extremely dark down there, as the water is so
deep that no sunlight can reach that depth, so I rely on echolocation (the process of using sound
to navigate) to find my way. It’s time to dive down. See you on the other side!
Down here the pressure is very high, about 1690.7 pounds per square inch, so if you feel a
bit squashed, it’s normal. Now let’s find my dinner… Ah-ha! I found a Colossal Squid! Time to
hunt and eat him! Chomp! What a delicious meal! Huh? Why do I hear something? Oh wait…
another humongous Colossal Squid’s spiky tentacle is coming my way… Ow! I hurt like a razor
blade just stabbed me! Oh no… the tentacle is coming towards my eye…
I woke up in a cold sweat. It was just a dream. Thank God, I didn’t have a scratch mark on
my face!
