Subject: Sea otters need your help!

            Dear Sir / Madam,

I am writing to you because we need to save the sea otters. The adorable sea otters used to
live in the chilly ocean along the coastal shores of North Pacific Ocean. Since 1911, its population
has been decreasing drastically from approximately 300,000 to the current level around
            100,000.

Several issues threaten the lives of the sea otters. First, oceanic pollution caused by marine
transports, toxic chemicals and fuel leakage have adversely affected the function of otters’
fur, which normally helps them to keep warm. Second, sea otters are often killed by sharks
and whales. Third, despite the International Fur Seal Treaty, illegal hunting is still a common
phenomenon in the area. If all these issues are not solved or alleviated, it is envisaged that sea
otters will become extinct in the near future.

I am writing to call upon your financial support to build more sanctuaries for otters and
hosting more talks on keeping the ocean clean. Most essential of all is to educate the public on
the importance of saving sea otters from extinction. I am sure this dream will come true with
            WWF’s support.

            Yours Sincerely,
            Alden Lo
