                      Interview with the Kidneys

Alastair: Good afternoon everyone. Today we are pleased to have two important guests. They
are the Kidney Twins! Hello kidneys, thanks for taking the time to come. How are
you? May we ask you a few questions?
L Kidney: Thanks for inviting us, too! We are fine, thank you. Our master kept us well. You
have some questions, right? Do go ahead.
Alastair: Well, could you tell us which system you are in and who you live with?
R Kidney: Yes, of course. We are in the urinary system and we live with the bladder and the
                       urethra.
L Kidney: They are very nice, they help us with our job and we are an important family. One
that you wouldn’t want to miss!
Alastair: Ah, I see. That is interesting. Now, I would like to ask, what are your main functions
                       and how do you work?
L Kidney: Good question! We filter waste and salt from blood. Gosh, it is hard work!
R Kidney: We work when blood enters the glomerulus attached to a tubule which are both
inside us. After being filtered in them, the remaining fluid passes along the tubule.
L Kidney: In the tubule, chemicals and water are either added to or removed from the fluid. Ta
                       da! Work done!
Alastair: That has got to be the most complicated work I’ve ever heard in my whole life!
Finally, may I know where you are located in the human body?
Kidneys: That is hard to describe……
L Kidney: Let me try. We are under the rib cage, above the waist, towards the back and behind
the stomach and intestines. Oh yes, I’m on the left side of the spine while my twin
brother is on the other side.
Alastair: So, I think this is the end of the interview, thanks for coming. I really appreciate you
answering our questions! Now, before you leave, could you give us some advice on
how to cooperate with you better? I’m sure our listeners would like that.
Kidneys: It’s us who should say thanks! Anyway, you should eat less salty, preserved food and
drink more water! That’s our advice! Goodbye and thank you again for inviting us!
