Adopting a Puppy
Dearest Mum,
How is your work in China? Hope everything is going smoothly. Last Sunday, I attended a
Puppy Adoption Day. I learnt that adopting a puppy can give it a new life. I saw many lovely but
homeless puppies, thus, I am writing to you to seek your permission to adopt one.
To begin with, dogs are intelligent and can provide perfect companionship for people. I am
the only child at home, so I often feel lonely and bored. However, if I adopt a dog, I can take care
of the dog, walk it or even play with it! I will not be bored anymore. Also, I can train the dog to
follow my instructions and do some tricks. I will be able to exercise more at the same time too!
Everyone in the family will feel more relaxed when playing with it.
Secondly, I am a responsible adolescent who can take care of myself. I have learnt how to
take care of a puppy through the internet and have had discussions with some volunteers. I
promise I will take the dog to the veterinarian regularly and ensure the hygiene is good at home.
I will give it a bath and clean its kennel frequently.
I understand that you may be concerned about the lack of space at home and I don’t have
enough knowledge and skills to take care of a puppy. I promise I will only adopt a small dog like
a Poodle or Chihuahua. I will also seek post-adoption support if necessary.
Trust me, Mum. By taking care of a puppy, I will become a more responsible and happier
person. I strongly hope that you will allow me to adopt a puppy.
Love,
Jasper
