at Sheriff Brown’s house, they saw him watering plants in his lawn. They went to his lawn and asked him.
Sheriff Brown said he only wanted the man to try the cookies. Yat was still not convinced. He asked the
Sheriff why he baked the cookies, but the Sheriff did not say it. The three still did not find the criminal.
Astin was getting upset. They searched the whole day and still did not find the thief, but they did not give
up. They kept thinking until Bobby suggested one last place to look.
At night, they went to Mr. Jones’s birthday party. Mr. Jones hired many cooks to bake cookies for the party.
Bobby thought that one of the cooks must have stolen the recipe. When they arrived at the party, they saw a lot
of people wearing fancy clothes. Yat and Bobby knew Mr. Jones was rich but did not know he knew so many
people. The party was crowded with a lot of people. In the middle of the party, Mr. Jones stood on a stage and
had a speech to thank all of the people that cared about him to come to this important party. It was important
because it was Mr. Jones’s fifty-year-old birthday party! Just when Mr. Jones was reading the birthday cards
on the stage, Bobby finally knew who stole the recipe. It was not Mrs. Waterson, not Sheriff Brown, and not
the cooks, it was Astin all along. He explained to Astin that he accidentally gave the recipe to Mr. Jones as a
birthday card. After the party, they told Mr. Jones about what happened. Mr. Jones gave the recipe back to
Astin and went home. Astin was so happy and he finally could make his corgi cookies again. The moral of the
story is that the criminal could be the least you expect!
There is No Turning Back

One day, a fox and a donkey went on archery drills. They were proud of their skills. They thought they
were the best hunters in the forest. While they were enjoying the practice, a lion was watching them. “Fox and
donkey meat for dinner!” he thought.
When the fox and the donkey reached the end of the forest, the lion jumped out and roared fiercely. “One
of you must stay and the other can leave,” he said. The fox was very cunning, as well as very clever. He told
the lion that donkey meat was more refreshing than fox meat. Then he tricked the donkey into thinking that he
would dig a tunnel from the Lion’s den to a safe place so that they could escape together. However, the fox
intended to escape and never come back.
When digging the tunnel, the fox felt guilty for the things he had done. He thought about the donkey
yelling “help!” However, he did not stop digging and go back. Instead, he dug even faster.
A few days later, the fox couldn’t take the guilt anymore, so he went to look for the donkey. Unluckily, when
he came back, the donkey was only a pile of bones. The fox cried and thought of all the memories they had
together. Unfortunately, there was no way of saving the donkey anymore.
This story tells us that cunning friends are not trustworthy and they may leave you as soon as they don’t
need you. It also tells us not to do anything that we would regret for, as there is no turning back.
