                                              Friendship

                                                4A Szeto Shun Lai

Rotito and Caballo were friends. They were the best hunters in the forest. They had the best archery
skills of the jungle, that nothing could escape from their arrows. So, they were very arrogant and always
told some kinds of untrue stories.
One Monday, Rotito said that once he skewered fifteen geese with one arrow. On Tuesday, Caballo
said that he could kill a hundred mice with two arrows. And so on, until everybody avoided them. They just
couldn’t bear to either see or hear the braggarts. Once the two friends were surrounded with fame, but
       now they were left alone.
Actually Rotito and Caballo were very happy. If they were surrounded by fans, the prey would all
disappear. But now they could return to their quiet hunting.
One day, the friends went out for a walk. They were walking in the forest, ready to shoot some geese
when, “Stomp, stomp!” a giant lion appeared out of nowhere. Rotito and Caballo were stunned, and their
bows dropped out of their hands.
Lion was a runaway convict. He often roamed these parts of the forest. Then Rotito quickly ran over
to Lion. He quietly whispered to Lion, “Could you let me go if I help you catch Caballo?” Lion gave a sly
smile and nodded his head. While Rotito was whispering, Caballo had already heard it all. His ears perked
       up, what a bad friend!
So, Rotito started to dig a giant pit. He pictured Caballo approaching the pit, then he saw himself
pushing Caballo into the pit. He stopped, good friends wouldn’t do this!
Then he ran to Caballo’s house. When Caballo saw him, he took out an arrow and his bow, and aimed
at Rotito, “You want to kill me!” he hissed.
Rotito was shocked. He said, “No, I wanted to, but now I don’t want to. I want to kill Lion. Could you
help me?” Caballo looked at him skeptically, “Fine, tell me!” he responded. Rotito told Caballo that a trap
was laid and the other details of his plan. When he finished, the friendship was mended.

The next day, Rotito met Lion. He took Lion to the pit and then he told Lion that Caballo was in there.
Lion peered cautiously into the pit, then Caballo ran out from the back! He knocked Lion into the pit!
Suddenly a voice shouted, “Lion is defeated! All by Rotito and Caballo!” Then all the animals came, with
earmuffs to block the bragging. When they saw Lion, dead in the pit on the rocks, they started to cheer.
Rotito and Caballo were heroes! Then they were awarded medals. The two friends promised not to
brag anymore and would be humbler. The animals all cheered and they all chose Rotito and Caballo as
the mayors for the town. The good things just kept coming! “What an amazing plan!” the animals cheered
and the roar of the crowd was deafening. Goodbye hunters and friendship can always defeat evil!
