Tai Po Centre had tried applying the new regular
service mode online or offline to promote the Social
Tech Project under the Jockey Club Youth Create
Series. The Centre had held 187 sessions of various
technology experiential activities, inviting the teenagers
to show constant care to the disadvantaged in the
district under the pandemic. Some of the youth had
made use of Chatbot technology and devised a tool
prototype teaching people with intelligence disabilities
about social manners. The prototype, which had been
tested in rehabilitation service units, not only enabled
the needy to pursue continuous learning, but also
strengthened their connection with the community.

This year, Sing Woo Children & Youth Centre received $2,960,000 funding from
the Community Chest of Hong Kong to launch “EM Rocks Support Programme
for Ethnic Minorities”. The Programme has by far provided 1455 times of
services to the ethnic minorities. The Centre specifically enhanced its “Reading
Pen Activity” for kindergartens so that the ethnic minority children were able to
continue their Chinese learning at home with reading pen and relevant teaching
materials, which offset the impact of pandemic on them. 23
