KTGSS Students amid
Coronavirus Crisis
The coronavirus outbreak has been unfolding with astounding
speed since January 2020. As a result, KTGSS members’ daily
routine and school life have changed in unprecedented ways. For
example, KTGSS teachers have begun to conduct live-streamed
lessons through the video-conferencing tool Zoom while KTGSS
students have adapted to online learning during the class
suspension. On top of the altered learning patterns, let’s look at what
students have pondered on during the coronavirus crisis.
Students’ Reflection

It was a difficult time for me during the class suspension because I could not
enjoy snacks with my schoolmates in the tuck shop; I could not study with them
in the library; I could not take part in any voluntary service.
It required self-discipline to maintain our daily routine. In the morning, I attended
Zoom lessons. After lunch, I did my homework. At night, I made notes on what
I learned in the morning. I would like to thank all the teachers who spared their
time and effort to familiarize themselves with the use of Zoom. I understand it could be challenging to teach with
the confinement of the tablet screen.

Individual efforts to combat the coronavirus is crucial. We should have a higher
awareness of personal hygiene. Wearing face masks when going out and washing
hands frequently are measures to lower the spread of infectious diseases from
one person to another. Last but not least, everyone should give support to
our medical officers for fighting the pneumonia. Hope the coronavirus can be
controlled as soon as possible.

I think Hong Kong people should help each
other out during the coronavirus outbreak
by donating excessive face masks to the
vulnerable community, like the street cleaners
and homeless people.

In my opinion, the wave of hoarding anti-virus items like surgical masks, bleach
and hand sanitizers is irrational. Hong Kong citizens should be considerate and
stop whatever forms of panic-buying. If we have got sufficient disinfectants at
home already, we should leave available items in pharmacies and supermarkets
for those in greater need. If some citizens fail to get
them, they will have greater risk of being infected.
If someone living in the same community is infected
because of inadequate protection, do you think you
can stay out of it comfortably?
Social distancing means keeping space between yourself and other people outside
of your home. Students maintain social distance at school after school resumption to
reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus.
