continued.

designed to encourage and support students to be self-directed in bringing about

VA Zoom Lessons
The challenge of teaching Visual Arts online was well met by the
creativity of teachers and students alike. By its very nature, Visual
Arts subject matter and concepts are always delivered visually for
the best effect. Teaching and learning is much more effective with
the aids of reference pictures, practical demonstration and tactile
sensory experience. Therefore, for enhancing the effectiveness
of teaching and learning, the VA teachers motivated students by

using teaching aids like PowerPoint, YouTube videos, music videos
and students’ artwork.
During the online lessons, class discussion and experience sharing were always encouraged,
while students with good performance were invited to share their inspired art projects.
In addition, external competitions were integrated into the online assignments to arouse
students’ interest. The Inter-School Fashion Design Competition and Thanksgiving Card
Design Competition were held. Students’ responses were mostly positive, and their homework
showed their creativity and imagination.
