Congratulations!
th
50 Anniversary of HTYC!
With heartfelt appreciation to the wisdom and efforts of School Supervisor Mrs Simmy Hung and The Incorporated
Management Committee, Principal Kwok and all staff members, and of all patrons and supporters of HTYC, I am
th
profoundly excited to see the successes of the school in finally launching the 50 Anniversary celebrations, after a
long time of saddening COVID-19 contingencies. “Flourish in His Grace” - God has always been guarding HTYC
and guiding it forward through challenges, for the past 50 years and will be so for every day in the future!
Since the substantial outbreak of COVID-19 in Jan 2020, when I was still serving in the school, all Hioecians have
witnessed the difficult days the school had to elbow through. As all Hioecians, I believe, treasure time together,
those difficult days cast barriers, dampening the spirit of communion which is so essential to Hioecians. But as the
Scripture has said “…(nothing) shall separate us from the love of Christ…” (Romans 8:35). With the kick off of the
celebrations, I felt exalted and praised our LORD for His role in steering HTYC out of hardship. HTYC will continue
to forge forward, and continuously flourish in His grace.
Tough times are a test, on physique but more on integrity - it is the HEALTH of spirit and character. I have witnessed
Hioecians staying upright and positive, in hugely challenging tasks. These have ranged from drastically revising the
senior curriculum, to small chores like operating temperature checks and working on daily sanitization, upholding
what is right and correct, manifesting goodness in the eyes of man and God. When days were typically stuffed
with contingent arrangements, and “coming back to school campus” appeared a very distant wish, a simple note
was simply that: Hang On! TENACITY! Just persist in doing the best every day, tackling all the uncertainties and
“everchanging” pandemic-bound requirements! There in the midst of toughness, teachers swiftly and smartly got
to master e-learning tools, online lessons, and online interviews while students got to adapt to varied time-tables,
computer-based learning, and online assignments. Tough times never last but tough people do! Students continued
to demonstrate a YOUNG MIND of profound capacity and creativity. They continued to accomplish and shine in
many areas, including STEAM education, visual arts, sports, music, languages, leadership development and services,
staying curious and ready for exploration and new attempts. More importantly, Hioecians unceasingly show concern
for one another, upholding the CARING spirit. Teachers, through whatever possible means, always convey their
concern to students for their learning, their daily life and their growth; students support one another; family members
learn to express more of their affection.
Now that the pandemic seems to have become more manageable, and the silver lining seems to glow more gorgeously,
I believe it is time Hioecians rekindled the long-treasured communion of affection and profound momentum that have 念 校 刊 十 五 周 紀 年
driven the school forward, soaring to new heights and exalting the Grace and Glory of God, our LORD. I am certain
that with God’s Grace and the excellence of School Management, HTYC will march on. May His blessings fill “This
House” and warm up hearts and souls with faith, hope and love for all the days to come - steadfastly underpinned by
the HTYC Spirit.
Congratulations to all Hioecians and to HTYC on the School’s 50 Anniversary. May all be well !
