In response to the concerns over the mental health of young people in recent years, the support team
had worked with external organizations to provide various online and offline activities such as sharing
from psychiatrists, handicrafts making, etc. The activities helped enhance adolescents’ awareness on
mental health and promoted good understanding of their mental health conditions, so that they could
detect mental issues and seek help at the soonest.
With the donations from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and the support of Centre for
Suicide Research and Prevention of the University of Hong Kong, the 3-year Jockey Club Online Youth
Emotional Support – “Open Up” II has been launched under the collaborative effort of the Agency
and 4 social service institutions. The platform provides round-the-clock emotional support service on
the Internet, social media or via texts, and promotes capacity building. This includes providing social
workers training workshops related to online counselling, with the aim to enhance their knowledge
and skills of online counselling and drive optimization and innovation in youth services.
