In Rotorua, I saw a lot of beautiful scenery and I took a lot of photos. I went to
many different places to know more about New Zealand. For example, I joined
farm excursions, farm shows, and a show about Maori culture and so on. And
the most unforgettable part was Hobbit’s house.
The Hobbit houses are colourful and beautiful. What surprised me the most
was that the exterior looked very big, but when I walked into the room, I found
it so small. However, the protagonist’s room is larger and more beautiful.
I used to think the Hobbit houses were all built on flat areas. In reality, the
houses are actually built on different positions on the hills.
Hobbit Town is really a good place and the scenery is beautiful. I hope I can
                                         go there again.

In New Zealand, I experienced so many interesting things that have turned
           into beautiful memories.
The most unforgettable thing was to visit the Auckland Museum. I learned
the Maori people’s history and how volcanoes emit lava. We also saw many
           animal fossils.
We also went to the beach to catch sea animals. Isaac, Bryant and I caught
some crabs, shells, horn snails etc. And we studied them. It gave me a sense
           of achievement.
Building a sand hotel at the beach was remarkable. We needed to build a dam
to stop the water from destroying the hotel. At last, we built a beautiful hotel
and the dam. We were elated.
I was very excited to go to New Zealand because I played happily and I made
many friends too. I didn’t want to come back to Hong Kong!
                                                                                     5B Ng Yu Ching Cara
The most memorable thing I experienced in New Zealand is the luge in
Skyline Skyride. You can ride the luge and whoosh down the mountain at
high speeds. We rode the gondola (the cable car) up the mountain where we
would experience riding the luge. The luge looks like a scooter but you can
sit in it like a car. You push the controller forward to make it go, and pull it
backwards to make it stop. I was nervous at first, because the luge rode at an
amazing speed and the ride was very bumpy, but I soon realized that it was
exciting and quite relaxing. I went slowly to enjoy the view, the track was built
in a small forest so that everyone could enjoy the beauty of nature.
We didn’t have a chance to take the other rides, or I would give a try on the
Skyswing too, where you swing from a high point and swing around when it
drops. It looked exciting and I hope I can experience it next time. I think this
was the most memorable because I’ve never ridden the luge before and it
                                         was a great time.

I was in New Zealand for nine days, and I learnt so many things there.
I’d like to talk about our activities on the ocean beach on the seventh day. We
built a green hotel with sand, water, shells and sea lettuce.
First, I poured some water on the sand and made it soft. Second, we started
to build the wall of the hotel. We made it like an igloo with a viewing court.
Also, we put a little windmill for generating electricity. The windmill would
blow some air down through the room. It would make people feel cool. The
windmill can make all the humans use less air-conditioners. Besides, we built
a swimming pool to cool people down too. When the rain falls, a bucket near
the pool will filter the rain into clear water and generate energy for the hotel.
            That’s called hydroelectric power.
Suddenly, a big wave destroyed my schoolmates’ hotel. Luckily, our hotel was
protected by a huge rock in front of the hotel. We were on top of the world! I
hope our world can become a greener planet soon.
