During the New Zealand Study Tour, our students experienced that
everywhere around New Zealand could be a meaningful classroom.
Learning took place at any moment. The students had many precious
opportunities to explore the nature including the forests, beaches,
volcanoes, wetland and some other stunning landscapes.
From my point of view, the most impressive part of the journey was
taking our actions for protecting the environment and the wildlife. We all
found that we might damage the glowworms while breathing out carbon
dioxide in their living place. The day after the exploration of glowworms, every student tried really hard to get several
heavy pails of water for watering the saplings on the wetland. The saplings will grow into trees which will give oxygen,
and help build a natural barrier for protecting the small plants on the wetland. Although our students always see trees in
Hong Kong, they might not know that how a tree takes its role of protecting the animal lives.
All our teachers and students felt grateful for having lots of fruitful and memorable lessons with our Kiwi lecturer, Uncle
Doug. Hopefully after the trip, we can bring back and share the ideas of environmental conservation in our school or
even in our families. We believe even a small change can bring a very different future to our Earth.

Someone said learning from reading is the only way to learn and equip ourselves, but I don’t agree with this statement.
After taking this trip to New Zealand, I believe learning from experiencing is the most efficient way. We know the people
of New Zealand work together to make their land the greatest living space on Earth. They all agree and believe that
natural features should be preserved for their inherent values, so they appreciate rather than exploit the natural features
for the future generations. New Zealand people always think positively and this is what we need to learn. I believe most
people may think that volcanoes are dangerous and they don’t like them, but the people of New Zealand thank their
Gods for giving them so many volcanoes because the ash from volcanoes make their soils fertile. Therefore, it nurtures
their plants to grow well and have great harvest every year to support their livelihood. New Zealand is the first green
country I have ever visited. I learnt, tried and experienced a lot in New Zealand and I would like to thank the schools to
arrange such a fruitful tour for our students and teachers.
Happy gathering with all teachers
and helpers, full of happiness!
