Grateful! This was the most grateful study tour we had. Taking the twelve hours long-haul flight, thankfully, we set off
this undisputed adventure paradise safely.
New Zealand is a wonderland as well as an adventure land. “Wonder” as it features how human and nature coexist.
It has gorgeous landscapes and fascinating natural features. We took the Glowworm night walk in McLarens Falls
Park. We felt like walking underneath a sky of glowing stars, hundreds upon hundreds of glowworms twinkling in the
darkness. We also saw geysers in Te Puia Thermal Park and we were fascinated by the bubbling hot water releasing
thick clouds of steam. Besides, we all became thrill seekers alike on this adventure land. Escorting from Hobbit hole
to Hobbit hole, we acted like hobbits whilst we visited Hobbiton Movie Set. It was a tranquil, pastoral scene filled with
adorable little circular homes. The most iconic “Maori” culture and Skyline luge in Rotorua were the highlights. We drove
in a “Mario Kart” and raced down the mountainside. How wonderful it was! In this trip, we could barely see any air-
conditioners, fans or rubbish and taking garbage classification is a norm. These are how New Zealanders join hands to
maintain high environmental quality of life. This is the most impressive way of life we engaged, endorsed and enthralled
for these nine days and we reflected what truly means “quality of life”. What we give to the environment resulted
in what we get, every small step in life does affect!
Thank all the teachers, principals and our guide Uncle Doug to upheld this remarkable, grateful
trip. We have seen more than we remember, and remember more than we have seen!

This study tour was really special and unforgettable because facing the outbreak of the coronavirus disease, we had to
set off with our masks on. Luckily, the trip was completed without much hindrance.
The trip provided an authentic environment for the students to practise English and they could learn outside the
classroom. They were impressed and amazed by Rotorua's geothermal features, especially the spouting geysers.
We also experienced the Māori world through their cultural performances. The farm tour and the kiwifruit orchard tour
provided opportunities for students to know more about the farming of New Zealand. Most students viewed the stream
study and the marine species survey in the estuary as the highlights
of the tour because they learnt more about the natural environment
and had great fun when searching for the living creatures in water.
During the tour, all students experienced a different culture through
new eyes. They got a chance to take care of themselves and
become more independent. Moreover, working and playing together
as a team in these eight days made lifelong memories among
the students. The trip was no doubt a fun and fruitful learning
experience.
