                             Kate’s Favourite Toy

                                                                     4C Cheung Vernice

I once lived in a toy shop near a girl, named Kate’s
home. One day, her mother bought me for her fifth
birthday. The box her mom wrapped me in was pretty
on the outside but dark and gloomy inside. I felt very
scared in the box but was over the moon when I met
Kate. When she saw me, her eyes shone like diamonds
and yelled to her mom, “Thank you Mommy, this is the
best birthday gift ever! I love this dolly!”

From that day on, Kate played with me every single day after she got home
from school. I didn’t know the other toys were jealous of me, but when I found
out, I was heartbroken. One day after Kate played with me, I heard the other
toys gossiping about me. Some of Kate’s other dolls said, “It’s like LuLu is
always gloating and Kate’s always saying how beautiful she is to her friends.”
Sparky, one of Kate’s stuffed animals agreed and said sadly, “She’s always
stealing the spotlight, now Kate only plays with her!” I felt miserable when I
overheard them so I went to a small gap behind the toy box and cried.

I felt better after a few days playing with Kate, but one day, my dress got
torn! It happened when I was playing a game that Kate invented -- Merry-
Go-Round. She was swinging me around and my dress scratched at some
sharpened pencils, then it got torn. When Kate found out my dress got torn,
she grabbed me and ran quickly to her mom’s room, screaming, “Mommy!
Mommy! LuLu’s dress got torn! ”

Kate’s mom told her to keep calm and said she could fix me. Kate said
ok then went back to her room to do her homework. Her mom took out some
string and a needle that seemed to shine. After a while, she fixed my dress but
it wasn’t as beautiful as it had been. “It isn’t the same but it’s still good,” said
            Kate’s mom.

Kate wasn’t that happy but then she didn’t only play with me, but played
with the other toys, too. At last, the other toys weren’t jealous anymore so we
            all lived happily ever after.
