Dear Editor,
A research shows that more than 20 million people in the UK are physically
inactive which would possibly lead to obesity, heart disease or other
serious problems. In fact, there is a rising number of people who
suffer from obesity so people start to suggest that companies should
provide employees with exercise time during the day. Although companies
are responsible for employees’ health, I completely disagree with this
statement.
In my opinion, providing exercise time for employees during the day
is impractical. Some of the occupations require employees to be
focused or efficient. If companies provide exercise time for them, they
may feel it is distracting or annoying. It may lower the efficiency of
the companies of employees. For example, workers who work at the
factory would normally oppose this because they would rather make
more products to earn more instead of doing exercise. If this policy is
compulsory, employees might feel less willing to stay in that company.
In the long term, it is not a proper way.
Secondly, providing exercise time for employees is unnecessary.
Instead of giving time for employees to exercise, providing higher
quality meals for them is a better choice. Since giving time to them to
exercise is a waste of time and results in a lower efficiency, providing
higher quality meals for them as lunch or even healthy snacks during
tea time is more efficient. A higher quality meal has more nutrients
