“Awards reminded me

of my efforts, my growth

and my failures.”

Kris’ love and efforts in gymnastics have not failed her
– she has won numerous awards in different gymnastic
competitions all these years. But to Kris, awards were
more than the recognition of her achievements.

“These awards not only reminded me of my success,
but also my efforts, my growth and my failures – I
remembered all the tears and sweats I shed before I
could ever enter a competition, and there was never
a shortcut. I also remembered all the faults that made
me improve. I remembered when I was competing
in the Hong Kong Inter-Primary Schools Gymnastics
Competition around a year ago, I was not careful and
my toe was injured during warm-ups. In the end my
performance was affected by the injury and I did not
do well. I was disappointed, but I also learnt from my
mistakes that I had to be more cautious and well-
prepared next time.”
