“There is always a solution for

every problem.”

Li Tung Yuk, the winner of the Outstanding Learner Award founded by W F
Joseph Lee Primary School to recognise students who possess compelling
features of a life-long learner, has always shown immense interests in solving
problems.

“I like doing mathematics, it is a step-by-step problem solving process which
requires logic and reasoning, nicely done in a patient and calm manner.
Sometimes I do not understand the question at first sight, I can take my time
to comprehend the questions and deconstruct it elegantly with fundamental
principles. It is not solely about memorising equations or theories, but
to understand the mechanism behind and how to apply them in different
contexts.”

Mathematics is more than that, it also taught Tung Yuk to remain resilient
when a problem arises because he knows there is always a solution for every
problem.

“When I see a problem, I don’t focus on how difficult it is but I try to figure out
the possible methods that can be used to tackle this problem. This problem
solving process has trained me to remain positive and pace myself in life.”
