Last year was unforgettable and yet, under the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hong Kong Children and 2020-2021
Youth Services persevered in our objectives. We worked together with one heart and responded quickly in
the face of all kinds of challenges, and braved out of the storm with our service users.

As social service agencies have to keep pace with the times, this year the Executive Committee set up
a Service Development Committee. With Prof. Joe C.B. Leung, BBS, MH, JP as the Chairman, and Mr.
Samson C.C. Yuen, Mr. Au Chi Keung and I as the Committee members, the Committee explored the
opportunity to establish appropriate and innovative services through understanding the needs of the society.
I believe that the professional knowledge and social resource network of our Committee can bring a more
comprehensive direction and ideology for the development of the Agency.

We put our emphasis on nurturing talents, and encourage our staff to continue studying in order to raise their
professional level. This year, we have increased the training subsidies to support the educational expenses
of our staff, and held different types of internal training sessions, keeping their visions wide and deepening
their professional assisting techniques for the rich variety of service needs.

Utilizing information technology to enhance working efficiency is a trend in the society. As our services
expanded, the total number of employees is nearly 800 at present. So, we introduced the human resource
system this year to assist in managing human resource data and procedures. In the upcoming future, our
accounting system will be updated to match the financial management needs to achieve good management.

Last of all, on behalf of the Executive Committee, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to various
government departments, funding parties, partners, service users and volunteers for their trust and
acknowledgements. Their supports are the biggest motivation for us to keep moving forward. I would also
like to sincerely thank all the members of the Executive Committee for their commitment and dedication,
sparing no efforts to give out their time and professional knowledge to guide the development of the Agency.
Also, I am wholeheartedly grateful to all our professional and dedicated staff for being committed under the
fast-changing circumstances despite the pandemic, actively trying and successfully launching various new
projects, providing professional and high-quality services to our service users.

Let us work together and embrace our mission, to create an ideal environment for the ones in need in
society, and serve the community with sincerity and love.
