Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my opinion about whether schools should allow the
public to use their sports facilities after school hours or not. Honestly, as a
student of a local secondary school, I have to disagree with this solution. It is
because this solution affects students a lot. Here are some points to support
my view.
Firstly, I think the schools’ sports facilities are insufficient. I can always see
that during our recesses, lunch time and after school, there are always many
students at the playground and covered playground. Students from different
grades have to team up and shoot several basketballs into the same hoop.
Because space is already insufficient, if the public comes to use our school’s
sports facilities, where can our students practise?
Secondly, I think there will be a lot of problems about management and safety.
Because schools should always open the doors and welcome people to come
in. If there is a large number of people, it is hard for the school to manage and
maintain good order. Also, if any accident happens in our school, we also have
to bear the responsibility. Just like when people get hurt on campus, we need
some manpower and resources to help these people. And if people lose things
in school, we need to find for them instantly. And also, we have to clean up the
garbage discarded by people. So, there are lots of jobs and tasks we need to
do. Our school janitors have to clean up more rubbish on the playground, it will
extend their working time and they will leave the school very late.
