Ticket touts are very common in Hong Kong. These people buy up tickets of
popular events, such as pop concerts and stand-up comedy shows, and resell
them at inflated prices. Some have therefore suggested the introduction of a real-
name system for the sale of tickets.

Write a letter to the editor of the Hong Kong Daily EITHER supporting OR
opposing the suggestion. If you support it, explain why it is a good idea and
suggest how the system can be implemented. If you oppose it, explain why it

is not a good idea and suggest how the problem of ticket touts can be addressed
otherwise. Write around 320-380 words.

Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my thoughts on whether the real-name system is
suitable or not for the sale of tickets. Ticket touts have been a problem in

Hong Kong since the 90s. The solution of having a real-name system cannot
solve the problem – not in Hong Kong. There are a few points I want to talk
about.

The leakage of personal information is a main concern among citizens.

Cyberattack is becoming common as the technology is advancing nowadays.
Attacks targeting social media and companies have leaked millions of users’
information. Hackers can track the owner’s name and find their IP address

and credit card number. The risk of being attacked is much higher than using
a ticket without a name. If the ticket with a name is lost, people may use the
name to do illegal stuff without any consequences, such as buying drugs and
