Volunteering is colourful

Last week, I went to the orphanage with my classmate. The children there

do not have parents. Before the activity, we prepared a lot of things to play
with the children. We bought a lot of fun board games in the stationery shop,
such as a card game called ‘UNO’. We also prepared a lot of presents for the
children. We hope the children can play happily and have unforgettable
memories. We felt very nervous but excited before the activity.

We did many things with the children in the orphanage. Luckily, they were all
excited. We were very happy when we saw that. First, we played the building

blocks with the children. They were very clever. They could build many things
like towers, houses and castles. They were all professional engineers. We had
a competition about the most beautiful building. We were very happy. Next,
we played the card game with the children. Although they didn’t know how to
play, they learned very fast. They were more excited than us and they even

won sometimes. Finally, we sat with the children and talked with them.

We knew more about the orphans during the chat. Some of their parents died

when they were young. Some of them were abandoned by their parents. They
were all poor. Some of us cried after we heard their stories. We gave them
some presents before we left. We took a group photo together. The event was
very successful and we all felt happy.
