Rachel and the Magic Shoes
6E Meady Cheung
Have you ever wanted people to see you as a star? Well, this story is about a girl named Rachel. Ever since
she was a child, she promised herself to be a star one day. She found a shoe shop that sold magic shoes. Let’s see
what happened!
Yesterday afternoon, Rachel was shopping for lunch when she came pass
a new shoe shop and decided to go in because she was curious. Once she got
in, she was amazed at how beautiful everything was in the shop. While she was
looking, she noticed some shoes she really liked, which were called the ‘Magic
Shoes.’ She picked them up and looked at the price tag. They cost 3000 dollars!
Rachel thought it was kind of unusual for shoes to be that expensive. Then
suddenly, a salesperson came over and said they were 30% off. Rachel was
still upset because she could not afford them. Then the sales started to flatter
her. ‘You would look magnificent in these shoes! Anyone who saw you wearing
them, would think you are as beautiful as a star!’ said the sales. After hearing
those words, Rachel felt very flattered and could not resist but to buy the ‘magic
shoes.’ She could not wait to try them on!
When she got home, she tried on the shoes and thought she looked perfect in them. A month has passed and
Rachel noticed the shoes did not work, because when she talked to people nobody even bothered to say anything
about her new shoes. Rachel was disappointed and utterly furious. She furiously went back to the store, and
demanded for a refund, but of course, the sales refused.
Ever since then, Rachel felt regretful and distressed and only ate very little for breakfast, lunch and dinner just
to save up money. This is because she spent so much money on something that was not ‘meaningful’ and did not
work as promised. She learned to never fall for flattery ever again.
The next morning, Rachel wasn’t wearing the shoes and was singing sadly to herself. Unexpectedly, a lady
heard her beautiful voice and sincerely came over to ask if she wanted to be a star. Of course, Rachel’s answer
was ‘yes’. From then on, she became a successful superstar and she learnt to understand the importance of talent
and hardwork and not just superficial beauty.
