Mark and the Monster

6E Kowk Tin Yan, Mermaid

Once upon a time, there was a man called Mark. He went to a village. He was as strong as an ox. People in
the village admired him.

One day, Mark saw a monster coming to the village to destroy the houses and disturb the villagers. This
monster often came out to scare people and destroyed many trees. ‘We must find a solution,’ Mark said seriously.

‘But no one can drive him away and he often sleeps in the cave,’ the girl said.
Then, Mark decided to go to the monster’s cave. Mark looked at the entrance of the cave first and found that
the monster was sleeping. So, he decided to sneak inside. Suddenly, the monster woke up. ‘Who are you? Why do
you show up here? You woke me up!!!’ The monster yelled.

‘I’m sorry…I came in accidentally. I’m leaving now,’ Mark was shocked and he said frightenedly.

Suddenly, something fell out of Mark’s pocket and the monster saw that
it was a cake. The monster became excited when he saw the cake. ‘What
is this? It looks so delicious. Can you give it to me?’ The monster said with
sparkles in his eyes.
‘This is a delicious cake. Do you want to eat it? I can give you,’ Mark
said in shock.

‘We can give you food but you can’t disturb the villagers again. If you
don’t destroy the village again, we will always give you food,’ Mark calmed
down and told the monster solemnly. When the monster heard it, he
thought about it and agreed. Since then, the monster had food to eat every
day and it no longer harmed the villagers. Sometimes it even helped the
villagers to find food. It also had a good relationship with the villagers. Then
the villagers and the monster lived happily in the village together.
