PALADIN HALLOWEEN PARTY
The Halloween Party, organized by the Student Union Paladin, was a great success.
Different from last year, this year’s event embodied new elements such as code
breaking and room escape, aiming to offer the participants a challenging yet
memorable experience. The hall was divided into two sides, with each decoration
based on a different background story for the participants to immerse in the festive
horror.
Many participants shared their feedback right after their experience. Most of them
found the riddles quite diffcult to solve and wished the playing time could have
been longer. Yet, they thought they had had an enjoyable time.
As the first event organized by the Student Union, Paladin was pleased with the
final outcome. Wishing to live up to their fellow students’expections, each of
the committee members had dedicated so much time and effort to preparing
for this event. It was such a formidable task to rearrange the school hall and set
the scene in such a short period of time. Yet, teamwork makes the dream work. They all managed to execute
their plan on time. Having felt a great sense of accomplishment, Paladin will continue to promote the sense of
belonging among students and strengthen the teacher-student rapport, hoping that students and teachers will
treasure every precious moment in KTGSS.
Science is in the Air
The lunchtime programmes at KTGSS have always been entertaining
and one of the highlights this year is the one organized by the Science
Club in late October. It is the second of the series of science events and
the theme was ‘air’.
The programme began with a short play,
through which some students from 1B
reminded their fellow students about the
causes of air pollution and ways to prevent
it. The play was indeed informative, but
most students were more interested in the games set up by the Life and Technology
Department, the Biology Department, the Chemistry Department, the Physics
Department and the English Department. Through the games, they learnt about air
pressure, hovercraft, the property of carbon dioxide, and some English idioms related
to air. As a treat, they enjoyed some lemonade and cupcakes, which include one
important ingredient, baking soda (calcium bicarbonate), a great example of a
cheap, useful product that can be manufactured from carbon dioxide.
There are four more science programmes coming in the second term, so students
should stay tuned.
