Moral and Sex Education
With an equal emphasis on theoretical and pragmatic approaches, the Moral and Sex
Education Committee aims to cultivate students’ positive values and attitudes, build up their
knowledge of sex education, and guide them to make informed and responsible decisions
about their sexual and social relationships through the learning and teaching of various Key
Learning Areas (KLAs) as well as the provision of relevant learning experiences.
Taking inculcation of positive values and attitudes as our direction, we have devised a
school-based curriculum with diversified learning activities. Students attend Monthly Moral
Education and Liberal Studies Discussion sessions and Moral Education lessons during
Morning Assemblies and Life Education lessons respectively. With our tailor-made thematic
teaching and learning materials, students are not only able to analyze moral and social issues
thoroughly, but they are also provided with insights on the issues by their Class-teachers. In
line with the school’s major concerns, thematic Moral Reflections are also posted in the school
campus to reinforce the universal core values and positive attitudes towards life. The Inter-
class Ethos Competition is held throughout the school year to influence students imperceptibly
through their constant engagement in the class building scheme. These, together with
activities like writing of auspicious messages for the Chinese New Year, Teachers’ Day, Moral
Education and Foot-drill Programme, etc. provide students with all-round learning experience
YEARS OF EXCELLENCE conducive to their whole-person development.
We cooperate with the government and other non-profitmaking organizations and take an
active role in contributing ourselves to the community as well. We have launched the End
40 Child Sex Abuse Foundation (ECSAF) Sex Education Programmes, Adolescent Health
Programme of the Department of Health, etc. and invited speakers to conduct talks during
Life Education lessons. Students are also encouraged to render community service actively
to the needy and organize fund-raising campaigns for charitable organizations and victims of
natural disasters. Kiangsu-Chekiang College (Shatin) Elder Academy was founded for us to
contribute ourselves to the elderly in the community. With the joint effort in the community,
students have acquired proper attitudes towards sex and developed traditional virtues of
respecting the elders, caring for children and offering help to the needy.
Having recognized Values Education as one of the major renewed emphases in the ongoing
renewal of the school curriculum, we would cease no effort in cooperating with different
KLAs, functional committees and the community to provide quality and comprehensive Moral
and Sex Education to our students.
