Like a gecko clinging tightly to the wall, my hands and feet all
spread out, I desperately reached for the rock above me with
my hand. My grip faltered, and the grit of the rock abraded
the skin of my fingertips. I tried again: more abrasion. My limbs became wobbly, I could
not hold on for long. As I tried to establish stasis, I took a deep breath and peered down
between my legs, the sunlight reflected off the pavement stunned my senses - it was a
bad decision - it was my final attempt and I ruined it. My heart
sank and the feeling of defeat slowly embraced me. As I closed my
eyes, I heard distant chants of ‘…ve!...eve!...Steve!’ I had almost
forgotten. Today, I was not their teacher, I was their comrade,
and they were mine. A jolt travelled up my spine and muscles and
without giving much thought, I pushed down on both legs and
secured my hold on the highest rock with my right hand. Victory
                                      surely tasted sweet.

Besides rock climbing, Sai Kung Camp also challenged students and teachers to get out
of their comfort zones with activities including cliff jumping and abseiling. Vicious battles
were fought during bubble soccer, kin-ball, and archery tag. These activities challenged
our stamina, strength, dexterity, coordination and cooperation between team members.
We also enjoyed the mountain view up high while hiking and trekking up a nearby slope
and the water view down below was spectacular in our kayaks and rafts. Cooking pizzas
was an art enjoyed and savoured by all and getting splashed by water balloons with
a 10-feet-tall catapult was certainly polar in nature - you certainly do not
go out on a whim to build one on a
            normal day. Students and teachers
were pushed to their limits in a span
of five days, but each and every one
of us left with moments that we will
            not forget.
