English Subject
In English Language Education, we develop students’ English proficiency for study and
leisure. We provide students with a wide range of learning experiences to enhance
their competitiveness and intellectual development. To upgrade the quality of learning,
we adapted self-directed learning strategies, designed innovative e-learning lessons,
organized school-based activities and enrolled students in activities and competitions
outside school. All these help develop students’ lifelong learning skills.
A. Self-directed Learning
Metacognitive Learning Strategies:
Metacognitive strategies like ‘Venn Diagram’ and ‘Induction’ were applied in the lessons.
Through these strategies, students can develop self-directed learning.
E-learning in English lessons:
To facilitate e-learning, English teachers used interactive apps like Nearpod, Popplet,
Kahoot in English lessons which aroused students’ learning interests. At the same time, we
made good use of “Flipped Classroom” to enhance pre-lesson and post-lesson learning
which further fostered students’ self-directed learning.
