On 7 February 2018, we, a group of forty S5 students visited
Mizuho Bank Limited through the Business-School Partnership
Programme organized by the Hong Kong General Chamber
of Commerce. Mizuho Bank is a corporate bank providing
comprehensive financial and strategic services to its clients
and one of the biggest financial institutions in Japan. The visit
started with an executive talk in which the history of the bank,
as well as its various services such as deposits, lending,
security investment and domestic exchange settlement,
was introduced followed by a guided tour to the different
departments of the bank. From the tour, we realized that the
bank is divided into front, middle and back offices. Also, we
got to know that it is the specialization of expertise which
allows the bank to run smoothly. For instance, the treasury
department requires professionals with an extremely high
sensitivity in numbers as each deal can involve more than a
million US dollars. On top of these, we were dumbfounded by
the scene when we saw everyone in the office had to monitor
          eight screens simultaneously!

The tour was undoubtedly an eye-opener as we were
privileged to be able to take a glimpse of how a private bank
operates. We were also endowed with a clearer understanding
of what the banking career is like. In an encounter with a group
of young high-flyers, we were inspired by how significant life-
long learning can be in a career path. We all understood that
only by advancing with time and being connected to society
can we have a foothold in the workplace.

There is no limit in knowledge, nor our learning.

A masterpiece to honour: This article was also selected to
