“5D Sam Tang. First in Form Five, First in Class 5D, First in Business, Accounting and
Financial Studies, First in Biology, First in Chemistry, Third in Liberal Studies …”. I
believe all of you were amazed and flabbergasted when you heard this in the First Term
Prize Presentation Ceremony. Sam has obtained excellent academic results since he
was still in junior forms. How can he become a walking encyclopedia? (Or what you
commonly say: ‘Hok Ba’) Let’s see what tips Sam can offer to us:
Studying certainly requires a lot of hard work. Here are some strategies that may help
you study in a better way.
I believe planning your time wisely is essential for you to study efficiently. You can
allocate a specific amount of time into different subjects every day. For instance, you
can spend more time revising the subject that you are not good at or revising what you
have learnt in the lessons so as to consolidate your knowledge. Surely, everyone needs
entertainment. I think the most important thing is that you do not indulge yourselves in it.
Asking questions is one of the best ways to help you study more effectively. Especially
for some science subjects, it is difficult for you to apply what you have learnt without
understanding the concepts or principles behind. Therefore, when you do not understand
the content of the lessons, it will be great if you can ask your teachers at once.
I sincerely hope you find these pieces of advice useful and wish you can have
improvement in your studies.
