Fifteen ways to improve our English
2A Mak Chung Pui, Alex
I have thought of 15 ways that we can improve our English.
The first way is to learn English phonics because by learning phonics we know how to
pronounce all the unfamiliar words that we might come across. It can also help us with our
dictations.
The second way is to write a diary every day. If we make this a habit, we can improve your
writing skills.
The third way is to speak more English whenever we have time. We should speak English
at home with our family or at school with our teachers. We should also speak English with our
friends. It is an effective way to practise and improve our English speaking skills.
The fourth way is to read more English books in your free time. This can help you to
enhance and increase your vocabulary.
The fifth way is to read English newspapers every day, such as South China Morning
Post. By doing this, we can update our knowledge on current affairs and we can also improve
your reading skills and vocabulary.
The sixth way is to listen to more English. When we watch TV, we should select English
language channels. We could also listen to English radio programmes.
The seventh way is to speak more with native English speakers, such as our NET
teachers. This will help us gain more confidence in speaking English.
The eighth way is to use your dictionary more often to find the meanings of new words.
You can also find examples in the dictionary of how to use the words. This will help with your
English writing and speaking skills.
The ninth way is to do more English exercises to practise your grammar. This will help you
get good marks in your exams and tests.
The tenth way is to concentrate carefully on your lessons. We can learn more effectively if
we do this.
The eleventh way is to make some online friends online from foreign countries, such as
England or America. We can chat with them and write letters to them too.
The twelfth way is to travel all over the world to meet people who don’t speak Chinese, so
we get a chance to communicate with them in English.
The thirteenth way is to emigrate to a western country so that you can practise your
English daily.
