The HTYC 50 Anniversary School-based Visual Arts Exhibition as the
first visual arts exhibition at HTYC over the past 50 years was held from
September 9 to September 17, 2022. The theme of the exhibition was
The Y.W.C.A. Hioe Tjo Yoeng College.
“Step Out – Courageous Attempts”. It was an unprecedented event for
the school and the students.
It showcased the accomplishments of our students
in various visual art mediums over the past few years,
especially in Glass art, Western painting, Neon Sign
design, Chinese calligraphy, and Chinese paper-cut
art.
Romain Rolland, the Nobel Prize winner in Literature
1915, once said, ‘The great significance of art lies in
its ability to show people’s true feelings, the mystery of
inner life and the passionate world.’
The exhibition featured the works of our students. It
showed how they have stepped out of the limitations
of traditional visual art mediums to explore different
contemporary visual art mediums and how they have
developed confidence, perseverance, and courage
along the way.
