          Course Aims

          Through the understanding and application of scientific concepts
          and principles, students will be able to:
          1.   acquire the science-related learning experiences and knowledge;
          2.   improve their own ability to explore and solve problems so as to
            participate in the rapidly changing knowledge-based society;
          3.   apply the knowledge learnt in Integrated Science in daily life;
          4.   develop the responsibility of students as a citizen so they know
            their role in environmental protection and the use of resources;
          The purposes of this course are to enable students to:
          •   cultivate their curiosity and interest in science;
          •   cultivate their ability to explore and solve problems;
          •   construct and apply the scientific knowledge so as to understand

           the relationship between science and other fields;
          •   equip with basic scientific knowledge and concepts which can be applied in daily life;
          •   master the scientific exploration skills;
          •   acquire an ability to think rationally and critically, as well as issues related to the application of science and
           scientific knowledge to solve problems;
          •   understand the usefulness and limitations of science, the interaction of science, technology and society;
          •   establish an open, objective and proactive attitude;
          •   develop their sense of responsibility, know how to care for the environment and use of resources.
          Teaching Objectives

          •   develop students' interest in learning Integrated Science;
          •   train students to use scientific methods to solve problems;
          •   enable students to master the basic experimental techniques and realize the importance of laboratory safety;
          •   train students in multi-angled reflection and critical thinking skills, use appropriate and relevant scientific facts and
           knowledge to support some judgments;
          •   strengthen students' concern about the impact of scientific progress on society, economy and technology;
          •   diversified teaching activities are designed to improve the effectiveness of teaching and take care of the individual
           learning variations.
                                                      Activities

                                                          Our  subject  uses  multiple  teaching  methods  such  as
                                                      experiments, exploration activities and project learning which
                                                      help students to develop scientific knowledge and enhance
                                                      their scientific skills. We organize workshops and competitions
                                                      to arouse students’ interest in our subject. In addition, the I.S.
                                                      teachers often use information technology to facililate interactive
                                                      learning. Students can retrieve scientific concepts through
                                                      computer simulation.
