What Is Economics?
In daily life, we often hear some economic
terms in different media, such as "Economic ึ ኪ ʕ ᅃ ሒ ᔼ ৫ ௹ ฌ ዝ ଣ ᑌ ֣ ᐼ
Growth", “Incentives”, "Cost", "Social Cost",
"Opportunity Cost", "Inflation" /Deflation,
"Exchange rate," "Depreciation/Appreciation,"
and "Balance of Trade".
Economics is………..
In his book “An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth, Adam Smith states that Economics offers the
following:
1. to provide the people with explanations or survival resources, or more appropriately, and
2. to provide the government or the country with sufficient public services.
Another master of Economics, Paul Samuelson, defines it in his well-known textbook "Economics"
that "Economics studies how people and society make choices, regardless of whether currency is
used or not. Use scarce production resources with many different uses to produce and distribute
a wide range of goods for the current or future consumption of different people and groups in the
society."
Nowadays, most economists define economics as the social science or the art of choice as it studies the allocation
of scarce resources to satisfy humans needs in production, consumption, and transactions in the society.
