Can’t Judge a Book by its Cover
4C Lam Ka Wai
There was a worker working in the garage. His name was Thucker. He was a guy who didn’t show respect
to others at all. He had a friend called Timothy. He was the opposite of Thucker because he was very nice and
he always helped people.
While he was working, Timothy was always with him. One day, his manager told him and all the other
workers that there would be a person coming to choose the new manager today. Thucker did not care and
said, “All of you should obey me now. I am going to be the manager and you guys won’t!” Then he went to
chat with his friends. Moments later, an old woman who was wearing some very old clothes came to them and
asked, “Could you help me take the trash away? I’m really tired and accidentally tripped on the way here.”
Then he said “No! You are just a homeless old lady. I don’t even know you! I don’t want to hold your dirty hands
and who knows what your hands have touched!” Just then, a worker and Timothy came over to help her.
Two hours later, the manager called all the workers to go to the meeting room. He told everyone that
a person who they hadn’t met would choose the new manager. Then, Thucker was shocked to see the old
woman’s face after the manager introduced the founder of the company. The old woman went up to Thucker
and said, “You should not judge a book by its cover.” She pointed to Timothy who had helped her and
appointed him the new manager. Everyone cheered.
