My Favourite Sound in the World

I love different sounds around the world - the thunderous sound of a waterfall, a sweet tune from my violin
and the horrible silence of a hollow sound, but the sound I love best is Dad’s snore!

It was the summer holiday and I was so excited about tomorrow’s yacht trip that I could not sleep.
Meanwhile, I heard Dad snoring loudly from his bedroom, so I opened my door and tiptoed into the living room.
Dad’s snore became louder. “I can share some lollipops with my friends,” I thought, then I switched on the
torch and put the lollipops into my backpack. The living room was dark, but I was not afraid. Do you know why?
The reason was Dad’s snore. I put the torch on the table quietly and took out my favourite comic. I started to
read comfortably on the sofa. How nice! The book was so funny. I giggled. My laugh was a bit too loud. Just
then, I noticed Dad’s snore had stopped, so I quickly hid the book under the cushion and scrambled into my
room immediately. I waited behind the door for ten minutes. Again, I heard Dad’s snore, as loudly as thunder,
so I switched on my torch again. I could do anything I like, like writing my own comic, feed my cat, play with
cars… “Hau Lai, go to sleep!” My brother called. I went to bed with him.
For the whole summer holiday, I had a wonderful time because I heard Dad’s snore. It is always my
favourite sound in the world.
