My Pet Can Talk
3D Lau Pak Ki Ajay
Christmas is just around the corner. Every time this year, I think of my pet, Ollie, and our adventure
together.
Ollie was a present from my parents on my fifth birthday. We got it from Bird Street in Mong Kok. It was a
parrot with fluffy golden feathers. It was about the size of a bottle. We became the closest friends ever since.
Every day, he sang merrily to wake me up. I fed him his favourite food. Sometimes, he stood on my shoulder
and we would dance together. We had so much great time together.
On last Christmas Eve, when everybody was sleeping, I sneaked out of my bed and waited for Santa in
the living room. Then I heard someone said, “Hello, Ajay! Merry Christmas!” I turned around and saw my parrot
talking. I realized that my parrot could talk. I chatted with him, asked him some questions and we even sang
some Christmas songs.
The next day, we opened our presents happily. After
that, I thought of an idea of taking him to visit his friends
at Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Garden because
Ollie mentioned to me that he missed his friends very much.
I thought it would be nice to take him for a reunion with
his friends on Christmas Day. Ollie was very excited. He
introduced all his friends to me: flamingoes, geese, cranes,
owls, ducks, pigeons, parrots, toucans and pelicans. I had
never seen Ollie this happy and I thought he belonged to
nature. Therefore, I decided to set him free. Ollie sang to me
one last time to thank me, then he flew away.
I miss Ollie very much but I believe he is doing fine.
He must be exploring the world. And I bet he misses me so
much too.
