Suspending Classes but not Suspending “Playing”
In order to help students maintain a balanced development during the period of
class suspension, our school provided not only formal curriculum learning tasks,
but also extended learning activities. Besides, various industries in the society
were severely affected by this pandemic. Our MI Programme and ECAs were
suspended for a long period. Therefore, we took special consideration to cope
with the difficult times with tutors and service providers. We invited around 50
tutors to make and upload teaching videos to a newly launched channel called
Suspending Classes but not Suspending “Playing” – Playing Music, Playing
Sports, Playing Art, and Playing for Interest starting from 4 May 2020.
Each video clip included 3 parts: Class Suspension
1. Relevant knowledge about the programmes or activities originally taught by tutors
2. Character building elements
Care
Respect
Integrity
Responsibility
Commitment
Perseverance
3. One-minute safe challenging items for students to try by themselves
Although tutors had difficulties from time
to time, teachers always communicated
and shared their experiences with
tutors in order to make the best video
teaching clips for students. With the 57
videos, students could stay at home and
continue learning, continue playing, and
continue challenging themselves ! This
