This year, the school-based curriculum was extended to P.2. An example
of one of the modules was community helpers and neighbourhood. This
matches the topic taught in General Studies. To help students better
understand the idea, we introduced students to numerous books on the English
topic.

In addition, to enrich students’ vocabulary, English teachers introduced the
vocabulary they encountered in General Studies whenever possible. P.2

To further explore the work of firefighters, the P.2 General Studies
teachers arranged a trip in January, 2020 to Central Fire Station so that
students could meet firefighters in person.
After the field trip, students were asked to
write a thank you letter to the firefighters. Thank you letters to

poster of Our Neighbourhood. Firefighters:

Dear firefighters,
Thank you for the work you do to protect
us every day and keep our community safe. I
think you are responsive and brave because it
is risky when rescuing people from the scene
of a fire. Also you are working in a hot and
dangerous environment while you put out fire.
You really are my superman.
