Promoting Reading

The school library aims at promoting reading and constructing a favorable reading atmosphere for our students. Firstly, in order to
cultivate and foster students’ interest in reading extra-curricular books, individual or class’s Borrowers Ranking Chart are updated on
a regular basis while students with active participation in reading shall be awarded in the morning assemblies. Moreover, to help S1
students know more about the library resources, a library orientation will be organized for them each year, enabling them to know
about the user guidelines, allocation of collections, as well as the electronic resources in library. New Book Corner and Themed Book
Corner are established for the display and recommendation of new books or themed books to students each week.

Secondly, in the hope of letting students acquire knowledge outside regular
lessons, a close connection between the respective subject groups and the library
is maintained, while small-sized book fairs of individual subjects will be held from
time to time. To cater for students at different levels with different interests, library
materials cover a wide range of Chinese, English and higher level reading books.
Chinese and English book fairs both last for 4 days will be held respectively in next
February, so that students could know and buy on campus the latest publications
as well as the award-winning books on various best book ranking charts.

Thirdly, to arouse students’ interest in writing, Chinese or English subject groups
will invite authors to come and share their experience and knowledge in reading
and writing. Students could attend a dialogue session with the authors face-
to-face and get inspired in reading or creativity. Meanwhile, students will be
arranged to fill out the relevant questionnaires providing feedback to the activity,
allowing organization of more appropriate activities to accommodate the needs
of students in view of their feedback.

Lastly, the school library always makes an effort to keep students posted of
latest information. New acquisition of library materials, special exhibitions in Public Libraries, and the information about literature or
culture related exhibitions will be announced through Facebook and Instagram pages. Meanwhile, students are often arranged by
the school library to attend the youth talks organized by the Public Libraries, encouraging students to actively participate in external
literature or culture related activities.
