Stress is everywhere

A recent survey conducted by the Student Union shows that 70% of the
students at school suffer from stress. The cases of students suffering from
stress have set the alarm bells ringing.
What is stress? In a medical or biological context, stress is a physical,
mental or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension. It can be
from the environment, social situations, psychological turmoil or illness.
When people are stressed, they will feel overwhelmed. In fact, ‘good stress’
can motivate you to do better and keep people feeling alive and excited about
life. It is different from ’bad stress’. ‘Bad stress’ will make you short tempered,
depressed, lose appetite and cannot concentrate. In the long term, it might
make you suffer from some serious emotional illnesses.
Firstly, it goes without saying that academic pressure causes students to
suffer from stress. Sometimes, if they cannot achieve their expected results,
they will have many negative emotions. When the disparity between what
they expected and the real result is too large, they will feel frustrated. In the
long run, it will lead to low self-esteem, especially Form 6 students who have
to face the pressure of public examinations and future job search. Most of
them aim to enter the university but some of them are still confused about
their direction after graduating from school.
Secondly, another major source of stress is relationship problems. Students
feel stressed when they have conflicts with parents, friends or lover. A case
in point is parents always compel their children to join a lot of extracurricular
activities and tutorial classes. It has to be noted that teenagers want more
