Message from Mr. Matthew Ma

Director of Musical

“Singin’ in the rain Jr.”!! This is the seventh musical production
with Pooi to Middle School, and it is my pleasure that I can
continue my contribution to the development of musical
culture in the school. We have chosen the show “Singin’
in the rain Jr.” for the Arts in Action showcase this year. It
has always been a challenge for professional performers to
master acting, singing, and dancing and this year, the team
will also need to complete the challenge of performing
in a new dancing style. Fortunately, I have met a group of
disciplined, devoted, driven, and diligent students and I am
sure they are going to give us an outstanding performance.
I believe in the potential for musicals to act as a form of other
learning experience for the students. By combining elements of dancing and singing,
with both verbal and non-verbal communication thought acting, students are given
a chance to work on their collaboration and communication skills while performing
with students of different ages. They are also encouraged to learn and use English in
a fun and interactive manner, without ever having to open an English textbook. More
importantly, I hope the students have gained some valuable lessons in respecting
each other and can now present themselves on stage with utmost confidence.

I am sure that the students have learned a lot throughout the rehearsal process and
they will surely give an unforgettable performance. Let’s sit back and enjoy the result
of the hard work of the cast and crew over the past few months and appreciate their
PASSION!

Last, but not least, a big “THANK YOU” to my adorable teammates – teachers,
students, and professional crew! I am so fortunate to have such a WONDERFUL
TEAM. Thank you ALL!
