Arts in Action 2019
       Message from Ms. Constance Cheung

       The Principal

It’s that time of year again, where we celebrate our school's
anniversary with our annual festival, Arts in Action. This
                                                       st
year we are celebrating our 131 year as PTMS, and among
a number of artistic performances is the grand finale, this
year’s musical, ‘Singin’ in the Rain’. Famed first as a movie,
and then as a musical, it is seen by many as one of the
                           greatest shows of all time.
This kind of success doesn’t come easy. It takes hard work
and dedication from everyone involved. Debbie Reynolds, one
of the main actresses in the original movie, showed this when
at the age of 19, she was given her role in ‘Singin’ in the Rain.’ Not only did she lack
experience in Hollywood, but she had absolutely no experience in dancing. Despite
criticism from fellow cast members, she didn’t give up. In fact, she embraced the
challenge, never considering failure as a possibility. She danced day and night, even
when her feet bled, to get herself to a performance worthy standard. Her courage and
perseverance paid off, and her incredible performance led to a blossoming career.
                            st
As we celebrate our 131 Anniversary, we will enjoy the final product of the hard
work that all of our talented students and teachers have put in to produce this year’s
variety show. Many students, like Debbie Reynolds, have taken up new arts, and with
dedication have honed in their skills to produce an end product that they can be
       proud of.
Of course, behind every successful project is a passionate overseer, and with this
in mind I would like to express appreciation for our Coordinator, Arts Education
Committee Head and Music Director, Ms. Yung Man Wai. None of this would be
       possible without her.
I would also like to acknowledge the contributions of our Musical Director Matthew
Ma, the teachers and staff of PTMS, and the Parent-Teacher Association for their
support and guidance that has enhanced our students’ learning experience and
unleashed such incredible potential. I look forward to joining you all today for a
       splendid performance!
