Discipline
The Discipline Committee consists of the Discipline Mistress, Form-teachers and Teacher
Advisors of Prefects who plan and implement the school’s work in the area of students’
discipline. In order to create a good school ethos and develop our students’ positive attitudes,
the Discipline Committee collaborates closely with the Academic Board, Counselling and
Guidance Committee, Integrated Education Committee, Careers Guidance Committee and the
school social worker to give holistic support to our students.
The major function of the Committee is to uphold the spirit of school motto and the code of
behavior set for our students. Routine works include conducting Form Morning Assemblies,
holding Fire Drill, maintaining students’ discipline in school functions, checking the tidiness
and punctuality of students, cultivating positive behaviours and coordinating with the
Moral and Sex Education Committee to launch the Moral Education Thematic Programme.
Moreover, an award and punishment scheme is implemented to reinforce students’ self-
motivating and rule-abiding behaviour and help them internalize positive values and develop
self-discipline in the long run. Regular meetings are held with Class-teachers and Assistant
Class-teachers to have a better understanding of students’ needs and maintain good discipline
of students. Students are provided with Self-management Handbooks which guide them to
cultivate self-discipline and self-management in daily life through setting up goals, taking
YEARS OF EXCELLENCE actions, having self-reflection and evaluating personal progress.
In face of the ever-growing complexity of families and a higher parents’ expectation on quality
education, the Committee strives to establish a close linkage between parents and school
40 through Parents’ Day and Parents’ Evening. These, together with other school functions
organized by the Parent-Teacher Association, facilitate effective communication to promote
home-school cooperation.
The Committee organizes various life-wide learning activities like anti-crime talks during the
Life Education lessons, F.1 Foot-drill Programme during the Summer Holidays, etc. which
help students to develop self-discipline, cultivate a respectful attitude towards others and build
up their team spirit.
Students from F.3 to F.5 who have exemplary conduct and demonstrate good leadership
skills are nominated by Class-teachers and appointed by the Committee to be Prefects. The
Prefect Team, which consists of two Head Prefects, twelve Prefect Leaders and thirty-five
Prefects, plays an important role in discipline works. Under the leadership of Head Prefects
and Prefect Leaders, the Prefect Team helps teachers to maintain the school order and operate
school functions such as School Open Day, Parents’ Day, Parents’ Evening and F.1 Admission
Interview, etc. As student leaders, Prefects form role models for their schoolmates.
With love, patience and perseverance, a harmonious and caring school culture is developed
and students are nurtured to become upright people with respect, self-discipline and integrity
to realize the school motto, Orderly and Respectful.
