Integrated Education
Our school implements Integrated Education so as to take care of students with special
educational needs (SEN). The Integrated Education Committee has been set up and it
complies with the five principles of Integrated Education, i.e. early identification, early
support, whole-school participation, home-school cooperation and cross-sector collaboration.
Measures have been adopted to cater for SEN students’ needs with respect to their academic
studies and personal growth.
Personal portfolio is formulated for every SEN student and Individualized Education
Programme (IEP) is designed for students needing intensive attention. Diverse school-
based services are provided according to the needs of our SEN students such as speech
therapy, social skills training workshops, gifted education programmes, Chinese tutorial class
and individual counselling sessions. The Committee also collaborates closely with Class-
teachers, subject teachers and functional teams to cater for the needs of SEN students, such
as holding SEN student profile sharing for teaching adaptations, conducting needs assessment
and providing in-school special examination arrangements. Applications have been made
for special arrangements of the HKDSE Examination. In 2018, we joined a three-year
programme named JC A-Connect: Jockey Club Autism Support Network to provide further
support tailored for our SEN students.
YEARS OF EXCELLENCE As for home-school co-operation, educational talks and individual meetings are regularly
arranged, e.g. on Parents’ Day for parents of SEN students. Close contact has also been kept
with parents through phone calls. A year-end evaluation is conducted for collecting parents’
40 opinions and assessing the effectiveness of the support measures provided to SEN students.
The Committee has built up a strong liaison with external parties such as the Education
Bureau (EDB) and professionals to provide comprehensive support for SEN students. The
Committee also works with the school social worker and educational psychologist to review
the needs and performance of SEN students as well as to assist in an early identification of
potential SEN students.
To enhance the professional capacity of catering for SEN students, our Committee members
and teachers attend the structured Basic, Advanced and Thematic Courses offered by EDB.
Experience sharing among teachers on individual SEN students has been regularly held to
enhance the effectiveness of the related support strategies and monitor the learning progress
of SEN students. Our Committee also works with the educational psychologist to provide
training sessions to teachers on Staff Development Days so that teachers can have a deeper
understanding of SEN students’ needs and master the skills of caring for SEN students.
To eliminate the barriers to physically impaired students, our school has added various
access facilities on campus including a lift, a mobile stair climber, ramps, accessible toilets
and handrails. These access facilities enhance the capacity of our school for providing high-
quality education for all students.
