Physical Education
Our Physical Education (PE) curriculum helps students develop an active and healthy lifestyle
leading to good health and physical fitness. It further promotes the qualities of desirable
moral and social behaviour shaping students to be responsible people and good citizens.
To meet students’ diversified needs and interests, our PE curriculum introduces a wide variety
of physical and sports activities such as athletics, gymnastics, social dance, Chinese dance,
Latin dance, Chinese martial arts, football, basketball, volleyball, softball, badminton, table
tennis, tennis, tenpin bowling, fencing, indoor rowing, lawn bowls and fitness training. We
also help students develop positive personal traits and attitudes, such as team spirit, honesty,
respect for others and perseverance through annual Athletics Meet and Swimming Gala. The
representative of athletes taking an oath at the annual Athletics Meet pledges to obey the rules
of competition and demonstrate sportsmanship during the competitions.
Ample standard-sized facilities are available on campus and they include two basketball
courts, two volleyball courts, two tennis courts and three badminton courts. A gymnasium is
also established to build up students’ physical fitness. Eight coaches are employed to provide
professional training on various sports. Information technology is applied to learning and
teaching, e.g. utilizing sport skills demonstrations from the Internet and other electronic
YEARS OF EXCELLENCE resources to facilitate learning and enhance teaching effectiveness.
To diversify the sport activities in our curriculum, we utilize sports facilities not only within
the school campus but also in the local community. These include bowling court, squash
40 court, tenpin bowling centre, lawn bowling green and swimming pool. Our students take part
in the sportACT Award Scheme organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department
which helps students develop a habit of regular exercise contributing to a healthy lifestyle.
Our students are invited to attend various international competitions held in Hong Kong such
as the Hong Kong Sevens, DanceSport of the Hong Kong East Asian Games, etc. These help
widen students’ horizons and develop their lifelong interest in sports.
With the active participation of students, our school has been awarded the sportACT Award
for twelve consecutive years since 2006. Numerous awards are won by students in inter-
school sports, Chinese martial arts and dancesport competitions every year. Outstanding
achievements have also been attained in regional and international competitions over the
years, e.g. three Gold and one Bronze Medals in fencing events of Sydney 2000 Paralympic
Games, Gold Medal in Points Race (Women Junior) of 2016 Asian Cycling Championships,
Championship of Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships 2018, and Bronze Medals
in DanceSport—Latin (Jive) of 2009 East Asian Games, Rowing—Men’s Light-weight Class
Coxless Four of 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, Youth Class of 2011 Asian Wind-surfing
