Striving for Academic Excellence

               In face of the ever-changing world and the need of the knowledge-based 21  century for all-
               round talents, the Academic Board headed by the Principal and composed of the Prefect of
               Studies, the coordinators of the eight Key Learning Areas as well as the Chairpersons of the
               subject panels plans, implements, reviews and fine-tunes the academic policies and measures
               that foster the intellectual development of students.  We aim to establish a school campus with
               a keen learning atmosphere that motivates our students to strive for academic excellence and
               become independent and lifelong learners.


               To lay a solid foundation of knowledge and skills for students’ intellectual development, a
               broad and balanced curriculum is developed on the basis of education reform and the ongoing
               curriculum renewal.  Diversified studies in the Arts, Science and Commerce streams as well as
               subjects related to information technology are provided.  In addition, new learning elements
               have been incorporated into the junior form curriculum, e.g. English Drama, Putonghua
               Drama, social dance, Latin dance and Chinese martial arts with an aim to enrich the learning
               experiences of our students and make learning more interesting.  For senior secondary
               education, more than 430 elective subject combinations are offered to cater for students’
               interests and abilities as well as get them well-prepared for further studies and career pursuits.

               Education, Gifted Education, Life Planning and diversified life-wide learning experiences into
               the formal curriculum.


               To enhance both learning and teaching effectiveness, diversified and pupil-centred teaching
               strategies are adopted and these include demonstration, experiment, questioning at different
               levels, discussion and presentation, self-regulated learning, collaborative learning and
               project learning, etc.  These together with the application of e-Learning and the organization
               of diverse learning activities like visits, exhibitions, field trips, etc. make learning more
               interactive, effective and full of fun.  A self-learning platform has also been set up so that
               students can learn independently by monitoring and adjusting their own learning progress.
               Workshops on effective study skills are conducted with a focus on enhancing students’
               learning effectiveness.
