Deep gratitude should be extended to our parents. It is not uncommon to have siblings EXCELLENCE
studying in our school. This exemplifies the unaffected trust from parents in the school YEARS OF
education. Parental support has been witnessed in parents’ initiative taken and active
participation in various school functions. Their valuable opinions help to enhance both the 40
efficiency and effectiveness of school policies. Most importantly, parents work closely with
our teachers and share wisdom in grooming the students. They also help uphold the virtues
encapsulated in the school motto and the code of behaviour that aim to foster our students’
positive values and attitudes.
Alumni are mirrors of a school, reflecting its attainments. We have about 6,000 graduates
demonstrating outstanding performances in both academic exploration and other learning
experiences. They are now practitioners, professionals and leaders in different fields and
contribute to the development of society in one way or another. I am grateful that the strong
sense of belonging has driven our alumni to serve their alma mater unceasingly without
reservation. Not only have the alumni set a role model for their fellow students, but they also
render academic support to the students as well as provide them with constructive advice on
further studies and career pursuits. Our alumni, with their expertise and strong attachment to
school, are a precious school asset and they will be, in no doubt, another momentum for the
further progress of the school.
The administrative staff and laboratory technicians have been working unanimously and
sincerely over the years. A majority of them have served the school for over 20 years and
one has been there ever since the establishment of the school. All the minor staff have also
worked diligently to facilitate the smooth and efficient operation of the school.
Reviewing the course of the past four decades, the first 10 years saw the laying of the school
foundation, the next 20 years were the developmental stage of the school with fruitful
achievements attained while the past decade witnessed its continuous growth and further
progress based on the solid foundation built. The school has fulfilled the task and expectation
given to it by the school sponsoring body and society at large. Thanks to everyone who has
made Kiangsu-Chekiang College (Shatin) a name.
Seeing the radical changes Hong Kong has been experiencing in the globalizing world that
is increasingly dominated by new technologies, it is not easy to foretell what our school will
become in the next decade. We may have to ‘feel the stones’ to find new paths that do not
currently exist. We may also need to step out of our comfort zones and face the uncertainty
of reality. What I can tell, in strong faith, is that with the concerted efforts of all school
stakeholders who work hand in hand to enhance the education quality, our students will grow School Management
healthily, develop their potentials to the fullest and become talents of society. The school will
also reach its endless climaxes and advance even higher in the decades to come.
