Message from the Principal
Ms. Chan Nga Lai
th
When compiling the 20 Anniversary Special Edition, I was
deeply impressed by a photograph taken in the early days
of our school. It shows F.1G’s wallboard on which students
wrote “I am proud of KCCS today and KCCS will be proud
of me tomorrow.” As the Principal, I take great pride in
students’ high aspirations which vividly portray the school
vision of nurturing future pillars for society.
The past four decades at our school have been a time
of continuous advancement of learning and teaching
environment, curriculum reform, school ethos and
achievements in both academic and non-academic areas. It
is always my great honour to have witnessed and taken part
in such remarkable developments of the school.
Dedicated collaboration among the various school stakeholders has been indispensable to the
success of a school. Our school sponsoring body, Kiangsu Chekiang And Shanghai Residents
(Hong Kong) Association, provides unceasing support to sustain the school development. In
YEARS OF EXCELLENCE addition to the recurrent financial resources provided and various school facilities installed,
there is the generous donation of HK$70 million for the construction of a 6-storey academic
complex, which is an embodiment of the Association’s commitment and contributions to
education, “For our education, for our new generation, let’s contribute our best effort.” The
40 opening of the school extension building is a favourable prerequisite for the sustainable
development of our school.
The then School Management Committee and the Incorporated Management Committee,
under the able leadership of the Supervisors, School Managers and Principals, set a clear goal
and direction for the school development. They make every endeavor to actualize the school
mission of providing quality education that promotes the whole-person development of our
students.
Our ardent professional teaching team is a valuable, if not the only, school asset for the quality
education provided. Both local and expatriate teachers share the same wills and commitment
to their work. One obvious piece of evidence is that it is not rare to find lights on and teachers
working in the staff rooms after seven in the evening. Our teachers also demonstrate great
loyalty to the school. There is a joke that teachers are ‘nailed’ to their seats, so the turnover
rate of our teaching staff has been extremely low over the years. With our passionate teachers’
devotion to teaching, love and care for students, recognition of the school mission as well
as persistent efforts in overcoming challenges encountered, the school has become what it is
today.
