Character

       Nurturing

       Committee

The basis of this year’s character
nurturing lay on the practices of 3Rs:
     Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.
To cultivate students with these character
     traits, various activities were organised
for students—from student leaders, to 1
     newly admitted S.1 students—in which
they learnt to respect others, have
     responsibility for their surroundings,
and be resilient life-long learners by
     practicing the Canaan Covenant.

Fifty-two student prefects pledged to serve the school during 4
the inauguration ceremony. The prefect team is responsible for
maintaining the school’s order and discipline. Furthermore,
they served as good role models for their schoolmates.

Our new ‘Children of Canaan’ participated in a one-day camp
during the summer last year. Through group activities, they
learnt three core skills—self-management, cooperation and
problem-solving. A highlight was when the students cooked
their own lunch. Curious about the outcome? It was delicious!
                                        4. Appreciation Day
Students showed their appreciation by writing ‘Thank You
                                             Cards’ to teachers and classmates.
                                        5. Visiting cubicles
Students visited a subdivided flat to understand and
experience the problem of poverty in Hong Kong. They had
                                             meaningful conversations with the hosts.
                                        6. Visit to The Police College
                                                                                        rd
A visit to Hong Kong’s Police College was held on 23
February 2019. This activity nurtured our students’ characters
as well as provided career guidance. In a foot drill, students 6
tasted what it felt like to train as a police officer and gained a
deeper understanding of the resilience required in this career.
